DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) receives signals from the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly) via CAN communication.

The airbag ECU assembly has a built-in yaw rate and acceleration sensor and detects the vehicle's condition.

HINT:

If there is a malfunction in the bus lines between the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly) and the CAN communication system, DTC U0124 (Lost Communication with Lateral Acceleration Sensor Module) is output. When U0124 is output together with C1232, C1243 and/or C1245, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by U0124 first.


DTCs may be stored if either of the following occurs:

·

Yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly) installation abnormality.

·

Yaw rate and acceleration sensor signal malfunction.


DTCs C1279 and C1473 can be cleared when the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly) sends a yaw rate and/or acceleration signal or when Test Mode ends. DTCs C1279 and C1473 are output only in Test Mode.

C1243 Acceleration Sensor Stuck Malfunction Any of the following is detected:
1.

While the vehicle speed changes from 30 km/h (19 mph) to 0 km/h (0 mph), the condition in which the value of the acceleration sensor does not change by 0.0294 G or more occurs 16 times or more.

2.

The acceleration sensor output values for the longitudinal and the lateral axes exceed the maximum for 60 seconds or more.

3.

The acceleration sensor output value for the lateral axis exceeds the maximum for 60 seconds or more.

C1245 Acceleration Sensor Output Malfunction At a vehicle speed of 30 km/h (19 mph) or more, the difference between the forward and backward G calculated from the acceleration sensor value and that calculated from the vehicle speed sensor exceeds 0.35 G for 60 seconds or more.

HINT:

for C1243 and C1245: Even after the trouble areas are repaired, the ABS warning light will not go off unless the following operations are performed.

1.

Drive the vehicle at 20 km/h (12 mph) for 30 seconds or more and check that the ABS warning light goes off.

2.

Clear the DTCs.

When replacing the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly), perform zero point calibration.

PROCEDURE

1.CHECK AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION
a.

Check that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly) has been installed properly.

OK:

The yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly) is tightened to the specified torque.

The yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly) is not installed in a tilted position.


NOTICE:

Check the yaw rate and acceleration sensor signal after replacement.
