PROCEDURE

Hide 35418 1.INSTALL MANUAL VALVE

a.

Coat the manual valve with ATF.


b.

Install the manual valve to the transmission valve body assembly.

*1 Manual Valve
*2 Manual Valve Lever Sub-assembly
*a Positioning Bolt


Align the groove of the manual valve with the pin of the manual valve lever sub-assembly.

NOTICE:

Be sure to insert the pin of the manual valve lever sub-assembly into the groove on the end of the manual valve.



b.

Temporarily install the transmission valve body assembly to the transaxle case with the 13 bolts.

Bolt Length:
Bolt (A):

32 mm (1.26 in.)

Bolt (B):

20 mm (0.787 in.)

Bolt (C):

55 mm (2.17 in.)

Bolt (D):

45 mm (1.77 in.)


NOTICE:

First, temporarily tighten the bolts marked *a in the illustration because they are positioning bolts.

*1 Manual Detent Spring Sub-assembly
*2 Manual Detent Spring Cover


Temporarily install the manual detent spring sub-assembly and manual detent spring cover with the 2 bolts.

Bolt Length:
Bolt (A):

14 mm (0.551 in.)

Bolt (B):

45 mm (1.77 in.)



d.

Check that the manual valve lever comes into contact with the center of the roller at the tip of the manual detent spring sub-assembly.


e.

Tighten the 15 bolts.

Torque:
10.8 N*m (110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf)


f.

Coat the O-ring of the ATF temperature sensor with ATF.


g.

Install the ATF temperature sensor and temperature sensor clamp to the transmission valve body assembly with the bolt.

Torque:
10.8 N*m (110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf)


h.

Connect the shift solenoid valve S1 connector.


i.

Connect the shift solenoid valve S2 connector.


j.

Connect the shift solenoid valve SLU connector.


k.

Connect the shift solenoid valve ST connector.


l.

Connect the shift solenoid valve SLT connector.


Hide 35330 7.INSTALL VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY

a.

Coat a new oil strainer gasket with ATF and install it to the valve body oil strainer assembly.


b.

Install the valve body oil strainer assembly to the transmission valve body assembly with the 3 bolts.

Torque:
10.8 N*m (110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf)

*1 Transmission Oil Cleaner Magnet


Install the 2 transmission oil cleaner magnets to the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.


b.

Install a new automatic transaxle oil pan gasket to the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.


Hide 35106D 9.INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY

Temporarily install the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly with automatic transaxle oil pan gasket to the transaxle case with the 17 bolts.

NOTICE:

Completely remove any oil or grease from the contact surfaces of the transaxle case and automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly with automatic transaxle oil pan gasket before installation.


Torque:
7.8 N*m (80 kgf*cm, 69 in.*lbf)


b.

Clean and degrease the bolt and the installation hole in the transaxle case.

Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads on the ends of the 2 bolts.

Adhesive:

Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent


NOTICE:

In order to ensure proper installation of the 2 bolts, apply adhesive to the 2 bolts and install them within 10 minutes of adhesive application.

Install the 2 bolts.

Torque:
7.4 N*m (75 kgf*cm, 65 in.*lbf)


Hide 10.ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

a.

Pull out the transmission oil level gauge sub-assembly from the transmission oil filler tube sub-assembly.


b.

Add automatic transaxle fluid to the transmission oil filler tube sub-assembly.

NOTICE:

Use Toyota Genuine ATF WS.
