PROCEDURE

Hide 1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:

After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

Hide 2.ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

Hide 45186 3.REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER (w/o Airbag System)

Hide 45130 4.REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY (w/o Airbag System)

a.

Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

*a Torsion Spring


Using a T30H "TORX" screwdriver, push in the 3 torsion springs to disengage the 3 pins.

NOTICE:

Do not drop the horn button assembly.


HINT:

Insert the T30H "TORX" screwdriver from the installation hole for the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and 2 service holes.

Pull out the horn button assembly from the steering wheel assembly and support the horn button assembly with one hand.

NOTICE:

When removing the horn button assembly, do not pull the wire harness.

Disconnect the horn connector to remove the horn button assembly.

Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.


c.

Disconnect each connector from the spiral cable sub-assembly.

Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

09950-50013  (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05070)

NOTICE:

Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

Hide 84633 9.REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE (w/ Cruise Control System)

Remove the cruise control switch wire.


Hide 84610F 10.REMOVE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) (w/ Shift Paddle Switch)

Remove the 2 screws from the steering wheel assembly.

Disengage the guide from the steering wheel assembly.

Disengage the 5 guides to remove the 2 shift paddle switches (transmission shift switch assemblies) with No. 1 switch wire from the steering wheel assembly.
