PROCEDURE

Hide 51442C 1.REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

Hide 2.DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

a.

Remove the drain plug sub-assembly and gasket from the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly and drain the ATF.


b.

Install a new gasket and drain plug sub-assembly to the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.

Torque:
17.2 N*m (175 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf)


Hide 35106D 3.REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY

Remove the 18 bolts, automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly and automatic transaxle oil pan gasket from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.

NOTICE:

Some fluid will remain in the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly. Remove all the bolts, and carefully remove the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.



Hide 35394 4.REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL CLEANER MAGNET

Remove the 2 transmission oil cleaner magnets from the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.

Examine the particles in the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.

i.

Collect any steel chips using the removed 2 transmission oil cleaner magnets.

Carefully inspect the foreign matter and particles in the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly and on the 2 transmission oil cleaner magnets to see the type of wear which might be found in the automatic transaxle assembly.

Steel (magnetic): bearing, gear and clutch plate wear

Brass (non-magnetic): bushing wear

Remove the 3 bolts and valve body oil strainer assembly from the transmission valve body assembly.

NOTICE:

Perform the operation carefully as some fluid will come out from the valve body oil strainer assembly.

Disengage the temperature sensor clamp.

Disengage the 2 clamps.


c.

Disconnect the shift solenoid valve S1 connector.


d.

Disconnect the shift solenoid valve S2 connector.


e.

Disconnect the shift solenoid valve SLT connector.


f.

Disconnect the shift solenoid valve SL connector.


g.

Disconnect the shift solenoid valve ST connector.


Hide 35410 7.REMOVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY

Remove the 14 bolts and separate the transmission valve body assembly from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.

Disconnect the manual valve connecting rod from the manual valve lever sub-assembly to remove the transmission valve body assembly from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.

NOTICE:

Do not drop the check ball body, check ball body compression spring or accumulator pistons.
