HINT:

The valve opening temperature is inscribed on the thermostat.


a.

Immerse the thermostat in water and then gradually heat the water.


b.

Check that the valve of the thermostat opens at the specified temperature.

Standard Valve Opening Temperature:

86 to 90°C (187 to 194°F)


If the result is not as specified, replace the thermostat.

Check the valve lift.

Standard Valve Lift:
Item Condition Specified Condition
Type A 100°C (212°F) 10 mm (0.394 in.) or more
Type B 100°C (212°F) 10 to 14 mm (0.394 to 0.551 in.)


If the result is not as specified, replace the thermostat.


d.

Check that the valve is fully closed when the thermostat is at low temperatures (below 83°C (181°F)).

If it is not fully closed, replace the thermostat.
