2NZ-FE ENGINE MECHANICAL CYLINDER HEAD REPLACEMENT

1.REMOVE INTAKE VALVE GUIDE BUSH
Heat the cylinder head sub-assembly to 80 to 100°C (176 to 212°F).
Place the cylinder head sub-assembly on wooden blocks.
Using SST and a hammer, tap out the intake valve guide bush.

2.REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE GUIDE BUSH
Heat the cylinder head sub-assembly to 80 to 100°C (176 to 212°F).
Place the cylinder head sub-assembly on wooden blocks.
Using SST and a hammer, tap out the exhaust valve guide bush.

3.INSTALL INTAKE VALVE GUIDE BUSH
Using a caliper gauge, measure the intake valve guide bush bore diameter of the cylinder head sub-assembly.
- Standard Bush Bore Diameter:
9.685 to 9.706 mm (0.3813 to 0.3821 in.)
- New Guide Bush Selection Chart (STD or O/S 0.05):
Bush Bore Diameter Bush Size 9.685 to 9.706 mm (0.3813 to 0.3821 in.) STD 9.735 to 9.755 mm (0.3833 to 0.3841 in.) O/S 0.05
- HINT:
-
If the intake valve guide bush bore diameter of the cylinder head sub-assembly is greater than 9.706 mm (0.3821 in.), machine the intake valve guide bush bore to a diameter of 9.735 to 9.755 mm (0.3833 to 0.3841 in.) to install an O/S 0.05 intake valve guide bush. If the bush bore diameter of the cylinder head sub-assembly is greater than 9.755 mm (0.3841 in.), replace the cylinder head sub-assembly.
Heat the cylinder head sub-assembly to 80 to 100°C (176 to 212°F).
Place the cylinder head sub-assembly on wooden blocks.

Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new intake valve guide bush to the specified protrusion height.

9.0 to 9.4 mm (0.354 to 0.370 in.)

Using a sharp 5 mm reamer, ream the intake valve guide bush to obtain the standard oil clearance between the intake valve guide bush and valve stem.
- Standard Oil Clearance:
0.025 to 0.060 mm (0.000984 to 0.00236 in.)

4.INSTALL EXHAUST VALVE GUIDE BUSH
Using a caliper gauge, measure the exhaust valve guide bush bore diameter of the cylinder head sub-assembly.
- Standard Bush Bore Diameter:
9.685 to 9.706 mm (0.3813 to 0.3821 in.)
- New Guide Bush Selection Chart (STD or O/S 0.05):
Bush Bore Diameter Bush Size 9.685 to 9.706 mm (0.3813 to 0.3821 in.) STD 9.735 to 9.755 mm (0.3833 to 0.3841 in.) O/S 0.05
- HINT:
-
If the exhaust valve guide bush bore diameter of the cylinder head sub-assembly is greater than 9.706 mm (0.3821 in.), machine the exhaust valve guide bush bore to a diameter of 9.735 to 9.755 mm (0.3833 to 0.3841 in.) to install an O/S 0.05 exhaust valve guide bush. If the bush bore diameter of the cylinder head sub-assembly is greater than 9.755 mm (0.3841 in.), replace the cylinder head sub-assembly.
Heat the cylinder head sub-assembly to 80 to 100°C (176 to 212°F).
Place the cylinder head sub-assembly on wooden blocks.

0.030 to 0.065 mm (0.00118 to 0.00256 in.)

5.REPLACE CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP SETTING RING PIN
- NOTICE:
-
It is not necessary to remove the 2 camshaft bearing cap setting ring pins unless they are being replaced.
Remove the 2 camshaft bearing cap setting ring pins.

Using a plastic-faced hammer, tap in 2 new camshaft bearing cap setting ring pins to the specified protrusion height.
- Standard Protrusion Height:
4.5 to 5.5 mm (0.177 to 0.217 in.)

6.REPLACE STUD BOLT
- NOTICE:
-
If a stud bolt is deformed or the threads are damaged, replace it.
Using an E5 and E7 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the stud bolts.
Using an E5 and E7 "TORX" socket wrench, install the stud bolts.
