MANUAL SHIFTING TEST


The purpose of this test is to determine whether a problem is caused by either mechanical or electrical factors. Disconnecting the transmission wire disables electrically-controlled automatic gear shifting. In this case, operating the shift lever is the only way to shift the transaxle gear. If the gear is not changed by shift lever operation, it can be assumed that there is a mechanical problem.

a.

Turn the ignition switch off.


b.

Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

c.

Warm up the engine.


d.

Drive the vehicle.


e.

Check the transaxle operation when the shift lever is moved to L, 2, 3 and D.

Standard:
Shift Position Operation
L to 2 No Shift (Not Change)
2 to 3 No Shift (Not Change)
3 to D No Shift (Not Change)
D to 3 No Shift (Not Change)
3 to 2 No Shift (Not Change)
2 to L No Shift (Not Change)


f.

Turn the ignition switch off.


g.

Connect the transmission wire connector.


h.

Clear the DTCs.
