U441E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE  AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  


PROCEDURE

Hide 1.INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

HINT:

Drive the vehicle so that the engine assembly and the automatic transaxle assembly are at normal operating temperature.


Fluid Temperature:

70 to 80°C (158 to 176°F)

a.

Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.


b.

With the engine idling and the brake pedal depressed, move the shift lever to all positions from P to L. Then return it to P.


c.

Pull out the transmission oil level dipstick sub-assembly and wipe it clean.


d.

Push it back fully into the transmission oil filler tube sub-assembly.


e.

Pull it out again and check that the fluid level is within the HOT range.

If there are leaks, it is necessary to repair or replace O-rings, seal packing, oil seals, plugs or other parts.
